Ian Wilkins (Auckland)

Ian Wilkins from Auckland is full steam ahead on an 80 inch wheel base dragbike set to run in the A/DB or AA/DB class. The power plant is to be a  GSXR 1100 Suzuki motor with a 1371 cc kit . The Lectron Carburettors are set up to run  Methanol. Ian says if all goes well Nitro will be used. All this power is put to the ground via a 9" Hoosier drag slick. The frame is alloy and chrome molly tubing with 80" wheelie bars. Ian says that major thanks must go to Crew chief Dean Fry and all the other crew and helpers Noel Heerdegen, Peter Heerdegen, Marcus Ware, Callum Farndale, Craig Bardell and Terry Bowden.This bike has taken five years to get together and it has not been easy. All these people have persevered and helped even though it has, at times, seemed like we would never finish it, and now the end is finally in clear sight. I am really grateful to all the guys for putting up with my grumpiness and keeping me encouraged to get it done especially when I have run out of steam (and money!).
